Dear young men and women and valued students of Ipek University, I had a dream, of founding the best and most functional university in the world and of providing you with the facilities that you deserve.

I knew then and I know now, that if you are given the means, you’llattain values that will not only enlighten your generation but also the generations that follow.

You will enlighten the world.

Your core values are universal human rights, universal law and democracy.

Your objective should be to serve the whole of humanity and keep universal peace.

You must build bridges between countries, peoples and cultures.

Be respectful to the people of the world. Bear in mind that if you are not respectful to others then you don’t deserve to be respected yourself.

Everything we’ve done at the university has a purpose. Nothing has been done just for the sake of it.

Even in your logo, there are deep meanings.

In fact, the whole story is actually hidden in that logo.

I also wanted to build a park just next to your university.

I was going to plant trees and flowers from all over the world.

Take this as my promise.

If anything happens to me and I can’t fulfil my promise,

I believe you will plant those flowers for me and fulfil my promise.

Stay honest whatever happens,

These words of mine shall remain as a memoir of me.
